Antiquity Leads are items that are used to Scry for Antiquities. They can be found in a wide variety of ways and places throughout the world. You don’t need to be an Antiquarian to find them, but you do to use them. Some Leads may require you to have done other tasks before you can obtain them – exploring a zone, completing a quest, or digging up other Antiquities.
- Leads expire 30 days after you obtain them, however you can obtain them again.
- Leads are account-wide. This means if you discover a Lead on one character, another character can scry and excavate it.
- Leads have fixed locations, such as drops from certain enemies, containers or merchants.
Lead sourcing is often related to the Antiquity it will lead to. For example, Leads to Antiquities regarding Glenumbra’s history will be found in Glenumbra.
Difficulty Levels
Leads come in various difficulties, and it determines how challenging the Scrying and Excavation mini-games are. There are five levels, but it should be noted that the difficulty of the Lead doesn’t always accurately relate to the quality of the antiquity. For example, an intermediate-difficulty Lead can uncover an epic quality item.
Simple
Simple Leads can be scryed by default and consist of mainly treasures, motifs chapters and antique maps. Every zone has one simple-difficulty Lead that is given to you for free.
Intermediate
Intermediate Leads consist of mainly treasures, motifs chapters, cosmetics, and mount components. You need to be at least level 3 in Scrying, and have the Antiquarian Insight II passive to scry for Antiquities of this difficulty.
Advanced
Advanced Leads consist of mainly treasures, motifs chapters, mount components and epic-quality furnishings. You need to be at least level 5 in Scrying, and have the Antiquarian Insight III passive to scry for Antiquities of this difficulty.
Master
Master Leads consist of mainly Mythic item and mount components, and some legendary-quality furnishings. You need to be at least level 7 in Scrying, and have the Antiquarian Insight IV passive to scry for Antiquities of this difficulty.
Ultimate
Ultimate Leads consists mostly of a selected range of legendary-quality furnishings. You need to be at least level 10 in Scrying, and have the Antiquarian Insight V passive to scry for Antiquities of this difficulty.
It should be noted that Ultimate Leads appear as the same shade of gold as found on Master-difficulty Leads, making it difficult to distinguish between the two. The following is a list of some Ultimate difficulty Leads:
- Al-Esh Ascension Coin
- Anvil of Old Orsinium
- Blessed Dais of Almalexia
- Brazier of Frozen Flame
- Coil of Satakal
- Echoes of Aldmeris
- Moons-Blessed Ceremonial Pool
- Moonlight Mirror
- Shrine of Boethra
- St. Alessia, Paravant
- Stained Glass of Lunar Phases
- Warcaller’s Painted Drum
Mythic Items
Mythic Items are broken up into 5 fragments, each requiring a Master difficulty Lead to find. You are required to be at least level 7 in Scrying, and have the Antiquarian Insight IV passive in order to scry Master difficulty leads. The dig site for the fragment is usually found in the same zone as where the Lead drops, save for a few cases where it must be excavated in a different zone.
